Thanksgiving Tradition

As Thanksgiving approaches, I would like to share a family tradition we enjoy. Each of us prepares a thank you note for everyone in the family. Its title reads, "I thank you, Mom/Dad/Siblings/pets, for:" Younger children can draw instead of writing.

The tradition emphasizes the importance of thanking ourselves as well. In addition to thanking our family members, each of us dedicates a note to ourselves, for example, "I thank myself for:"

By making a conscious effort to thank ourselves, we develop a profound feeling of appreciation.

Whenever your children have trouble coming up with things to be thankful for, you can help them think of something they are proud of, or something that makes them smile or feel good about themselves
